MATEJ FABIAN

Matej Fabian (1979) is still considered to be part of the young generation of painters. From 2005 to 2011 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, at the Department of Painting and Other Media in the IV. Studio of Professor Ivan Csudai. From 2011 to 2014 he completed his doctoral studies with doc. Stanislav Bubán in the Drawing Department. In 2014 he won second place in the VÚB Painting competition and was a finalist for the NOVUM Foundation award. In 2010 he was nominated for the Henkel Art Award for Slovakia. His work is represented in the collections of the Slovak National Gallery, the Bratislava City Gallery and in private collections in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, the USA and Russia. He lives and works in Bratislava. According to experts, “the process of painting itself is essential for him, which he obviously experiences with full physical commitment.” "His expression is not burdened by excessive cultivation or artistic clichés, and amazes with its intensity and ability to spontaneously combine various influences."
